Excel stage in DataStage
You can use the Excel stage to extract data from Excel file sources and integrate the information with your DataStage® flows or write your data to Microsoft Excel sheets.
Note: To use the Excel stage on IBM Cloud, you must set up a remote runtime engine
with DataStage as a Service Anywhere. For more information, see DataStage as a Service Anywhere.
Note: The Excel stage supports only Microsoft
Excel files as a source file.
Note: The Excel stage supports the following file formats:
- Microsoft Excel 97-2003 OLE2 (.xls)
- Microsoft Excel 2007 and later OOXML (.xlsx)
Before you can read from or write data to Microsoft
Excel files, you must create a DataStage flow
that includes the Excel stage. To create a DataStage flow with the Excel stage, see Designing DataStage flows.Use the
Excel stage to perform the following operations:
- Read data from Excel file sources and integrate the information with your flows. Data from Microsoft Excel sheets that has different column definitions can be extracted from a single Excel stage. To read data from Microsoft Excel files, see Configuring the Excel stage as a source (DataStage).
- Write data to Microsoft Excel sheets. To write data to new, existing, or multiple Microsoft Excel files, see Configuring the Excel stage as a target (DataStage).
