Troubleshooting SQL messages in Data Virtualization

SQL messages in Data Virtualization

You can use the SQL message information to identify a problem and to resolve the problem by taking appropriate action.

Symptoms

Message identifiers consist of an alphabetic message prefix followed by a message number and a single letter suffix; for example, SQL0123N. The prefix identifies the component that generates the message. SQL messages have a prefix of SQL. The single letter suffix describes the severity of the message. Message identifiers that end with E are error messages and message identifiers that end with W are warning messages.

Some messages include tokens, or message variables. When a message that contains tokens is generated by Data Virtualization, each token is replaced by a value that is specific to the error condition that was encountered.

Resolving the problem

You can find detailed information about a specific Data Virtualization message in the IBM® Db2® product documentation such as Introduction to messages and a detailed list of SQL messages.
